This is a typeface we designed with the basic character set. The experiment was to see how our mind derives meaning from shapes. Where does a shape end, and the language begins? Have you already spotted the hidden message in the image? Too many questions? Ok, we will stop now 🙂
One of the most interesting parts of his story is that he now looks back on his career with some regret. “If I had to do it over again, I would not want to be a designer,” he’s said. “There are too many unnecessary products in this world.” He has long been an advocate for the ideas of environmental consciousness and long-lasting products. He’s dismayed by today’s unsustainable world of over-consumption, where “design” has been reduced to a meaningless marketing buzzword.
In case you were wondering, this is Dieter Rams talking about product design and consumerism in Rams, a documentary by Gary Hustwit.
Our CEO is passionate about linguistics. So we designed a tote bag for her using Live-Love in phonetics. Thanks Vistaprint for a superior quality bag and printing.
Graphik was inspired by the appealing plainness seen in many of the less common 20th century European sans serifs and in the hand-lettering of classic Swiss Modern posters. It is suitable for display purposes as well as for text sizes, captions and for such specific tasks as navigation systems and map-making.
The brief: Help the new café across from Poke put itself on the map.
Poke’s answer: A ‘magical’ box that enabled the staff to announce the arrival of fresh baked goods via Twitter. It was both novel and useful, getting people talking and ensuring that locals knew when to turn up to get the freshest bread.
Moral of the story: Social media is for us and not the other way around. Proved by the crazy bunch at Poke.
We were looking out for an option to Microsoft Word for a distraction-free writing writing experience. Much to our pleasant suprise, we found quite a few. But that one that caught our eye was WriteMonkey.
Writemonkey is a Windows writing application with an extremely stripped down user interface, leaving you alone with your thoughts and your words. It is light, fast and free. With an array of innovative tools under the hood and full Markdown* support, it helps you write better.
Our favourite part is the splash screen, which has Monkey’s pearls of wisdom. A perfect to begin the writing process if you ask us!
